Your privacy matters. Career Owl does not sell your data to third parties.
Your CV and career information stays between you and the services needed to run the app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Career Owl:
Account information: Your name and email address when you sign in with Apple or Google.
CV content: The resume text you upload or paste, used solely to power job fit analysis, scout scoring, and AI features.
Job listings: Job descriptions you submit for analysis.
Job Scout preferences: Your preferred job title, location, and remote work preference, used to discover relevant job openings on your behalf.
Application pipeline data: Jobs you save, track, or move through your application pipeline (e.g. Applied, Interview, Offer stages).
Usage data: App interaction data collected anonymously to improve the product (via Supabase analytics).
Purchase information: Subscription status managed by RevenueCat. We do not store payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide AI-powered job fit analysis, CV optimisation, and career plan generation.
To discover and deliver relevant job openings via the Job Scout feature.
To score discovered jobs against your CV and provide personalised fit recommendations.
To resolve direct application links to employer career pages and applicant tracking systems.
To generate personalised career plans and AI companion responses.
To manage your subscription and restore purchases.
To improve the app experience (anonymised, aggregated usage data only).
3. Third-Party Services & AI Data Sharing
Career Owl uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:
Groq (groq.com) – AI inference provider. Your CV text, job descriptions, companion chat messages, and job scout queries are sent to Groq’s servers for processing. Groq processes this data solely to generate AI responses for you and does not use your data to train AI models or share it with third parties. Privacy Policy
Brave Search API (brave.com) – Used by the Job Scout feature to discover direct application links on employer career pages and applicant tracking systems (e.g. Greenhouse, Workday, Lever). Your job title and location preferences are sent as search queries. Brave does not receive your CV or personal information. Privacy Policy
JSearch via RapidAPI – Job listing aggregation service used by the Job Scout to discover available positions matching your preferences. Only your job title and location preferences are shared. Privacy Policy
RevenueCat – Subscription and purchase management. Privacy Policy
Sign in with Apple / Google – Authentication only. We receive only your name and email.
AI Data Consent: Before using any AI-powered feature (job fit analysis, AI companion, CV generation, or scout scanning), the app requests your explicit consent to share your data with Groq for processing. You may revoke this consent at any time by deleting your account.
4. Job Scout Data
The Job Scout feature discovers job openings on your behalf. Here’s how your data flows through this process:
Your job title and location preferences are sent to JSearch and Brave Search to find matching positions.
Discovered job descriptions may be sent to Groq to extract the hiring company name and score the role against your CV.
Resolved application links point directly to employer career pages (e.g. Workday, Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters). Career Owl redirects you to these external sites — we do not submit applications on your behalf.
Scout results (job title, company, fit score) are stored in your account for reference. You can delete all scout data by deleting your account.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in Supabase infrastructure with row-level security. CV content is stored encrypted at rest.
We do not share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data (analyses, CVs, chat history, scout results, pipeline data) directly from the app via Profile → Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your account and data.
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the app.
8. Children’s Privacy
Career Owl is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
